Trophy hunting is a multibillion-dollar business backed by the NRA and other interest groups. So, when the nonprofit Friends of Animals asked for our help in creating a campaign to raise funds to pass Cecil’s Law, fighting the importation of Africa’s Big 5 protected animals, we took aim. The results: We pissed off trophy hunting groups who petitioned Facebook to take our video content down. After just 24 hours and a well-written explanation, our content was reinstated and the buzz from the temporary takedown carried us the rest of the way. Celebrity animal activists got wind of our work and began sharing and retweeting our story.
