Massage Envy
The search for self-care starts here.

Insight
Reviving a stale blog with a fresh search strategy.
Massage, stretch, and skin care were long considered occasional luxuries, not a regular part of anyone’s self-care routine. Yet even as consumer attitudes have shifted toward proactive wellness, the category has become even more crowded with national franchises, boutique studios, and med-spas all competing for the same searches.
Massage Envy has been the category leader since 2002 with almost 1,000 locations, over 30,000 employees, and 1 million members across 49 states. But leadership in store count doesn’t guarantee visibility online. The brand’s real challenge wasn’t market share, it was brand elevation. We set out to evolve the perception of Massage Envy from a place where you treat yourself occasionally into a true wellness partner.
The ME Magazine (Massage Envy’s blog) originally carried that story. But ME Magazine had gone stale with outdated content, no ongoing production, and articles that weren’t driving meaningful traffic or bookings. Without fresh content, channels like CRM and social had nothing new to point back to and Massage Envy’s expertise across massage, stretch, and skin care went largely untold.
IDEA
A Self-Care Blog built around how people actually search.
Chemistry was asked to rebuild the content engine behind the brand. We relaunched the ME Magazine as the Self-Care Blog along with an ongoing content strategy to support it.
Instead of simply transitioning the existing blog content over to a new name, we started with research. We learned what people search for when looking for Massage Envy specifically, what they expect to find once they land, and what actually matters to them in that moment. That research shaped the new blog’s structure and content priorities from the ground up.
Traffic comes from trust
Every article now reflects real expertise. Licensed therapists and estheticians contribute directly to content and each piece runs with an author box along with a headshot, title, and link to a full bio page crediting Massage Envy’s own experts by name. It’s a direct answer to how Google evaluates health and wellness content with Experience, Expertise, Authoritativeness, and Trustworthiness (E-E-A-T).

Straight to booking
Contextual “Learn More” and “Book Now” CTAs tie educational content directly to appointment scheduling, so readers convert without having to self-navigate to booking.

Built to listen
“Was this article helpful?” feedback widgets surface reader engagement signals that inform what gets covered next and social sharing extends each article’s reach beyond organic search alone.

A refresh, not a reset
Where existing content already had equity, we audited and refreshed it rather than starting from scratch. We centered the library on self-care and skin-care routines, specific skin and body concerns, and the new services Massage Envy has introduced.
New UX and design
We completely redesigned the UX and design of the blog, making it easier to navigate, find content, discover relevant articles, filter by category, search for topics, and more.

One story, multiple channels
The strategy was built to extend beyond the blog itself, with plans for CRM and social iterations that connect back to the content and keep the brand’s story consistent everywhere audiences find it.

Growth in the new era of search.
Comparing December 2024 (the month before the relaunch) to July 2026, the Self-Care Blog’s search performance has moved decisively in the right direction.
That growth is happening while AI Overviews are cutting into organic click-through rates and traffic to blog-style content across nearly every industry. Massage Envy’s Self-Care Blog is one of the exceptions.
The content is converting, too. Comparing January–July 2025 to January–July 2026, booking click-throughs are up 109.90% year over year.
This is an active, ongoing engagement, not a one-time relaunch. Chemistry continues to monitor brand and non-brand search demand and performance, lead topic ideation, run ongoing testing, manage the content calendar, and coordinate with Massage Envy’s social team on keyword targets to extend the Self-Care Blog’s visibility even further.
